Project Brief  - Parijat Urja Chakra, a CSR initiative by Parijat Industries, has established a vocational training school in Fatehgarh, Ambala, to empower village children with practical skills. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping rural youth with industry-relevant training. The school provides courses tailored to the needs of the community, fostering self-reliance and boosting employment opportunities. By focusing on skill development, the NGO helps create a sustainable livelihood for the children, contributing to the overall socio-economic growth of the region. This program exemplifies the transformative potential of CSR in uplifting underprivileged communities.

Design process - The standout feature of the project is its brick roof, crafted using a unique technique practiced by master masons from Rohtak for over 30-35 years. Known as Rohtak domes, these shallow domes require no reinforcement or shuttering and are both efficient and durable. The school incorporates a dome with a 15'x15' span, though spans of up to 30' can be constructed using this method. The structure is built on load-bearing walls and includes an L-shaped ring beam to secure the dome's base and counteract the thrust, ensuring stability. This innovative approach highlights the blend of traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality.

Design description - This project documents a low-cost roofing technique in real time, showcasing an alternative to RCC roofs for load-bearing structures. By using this method, which reduces steel usage and cuts roof costs by 40%, it demonstrates a sustainable and economical solution. Suitable for two-story houses and even successfully applied to three-story structures, the technique highlights the resilience, durability, and strength of traditional materials. This approach not only promotes cost efficiency but also preserves the authentic character of materials, emphasizing their lasting value and adaptability for modern needs.
